1. The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its 108th session (15 to 24 May 2024) approved the Revised Emergency Response Procedures for Ships Carrying Dangerous Goods (EMS Guide) vide MSC.1/Circ.1588/Rev.3.
2. The EMS Guide contains guidance on Emergency Response Procedures including the Emergency Schedules to be followed on ships carrying dangerous goods in case of incidents involving dangerous substances, materials or articles, or harmful substances (marine pollutants), regulated under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).
3. The Revised EMS Guide takes into account the amendment 42-24 to the IMDG Code which becomes applicable on voluntary basis from 1 January 2025 pending its envisaged mandatory entry into force date of 1 January 2026.
