1. Reference is made to Technical Circular 030/2023, dated 03rd October 2023 regarding amendments to SOLAS chapter IV (Radio Communications).
2. The said Technical Circular provides that with effect from 01 January 2024, transmitting and receiving distress and safety communications using direct-printing telegraphy (NBDP) do not form part of the GMDSS requirement and hence need not be fitted on board (redundant).
3. In view of above, Indian Administration has now advised that on removal of NBDP, following combination of radio equipment will be required onboard Indian ships for meeting the radio equipment requirement for Sea Area A3:
