Maldives Maritime Administration has issued Circular No. INT-2020/001 providing instructions with regards to extension of expiry dates of Seafarers Certificates and trading certificates issued to Maldivian flagged vessels as outlined below due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
a. Extension of the validity of Seafarers Certification:
Certificate of Competency (CoCs) expiring on or after 01st March 2020 will be extended for six (6) months from the date of expiry of the certificate on seafarer’s application.
Mandatory short courses required for the revalidation of CoC will also be extended for six (6) months on seafarer’s application.
Medical Fitness certificates expiring on or after 01st March 2020 are extended until 30th June 2020.
b. Extension of the validity of Trading Certificates:
Trading certificates issued to Maldivian flagged vessels expiring on or after 01st March 2020 are extended until 30th June 2020.
c. Extension of Port Facility Permits:
Port Facility Permits expiring on or after 01st March 2020 are extended until 30th June 2020.
Ship owners/ operators and masters of Maldivian flagged ships are advised to be guided by above.
