1. Indian Administration vide M.S. Notice No. 09 of 2021 has provided following requirements to be complied by all DGS approved service stations servicing Life Saving Appliances with effect from 01st February 2022.
a) All DGS approved service stations are required to have CCTV coverage of the premises where Life Saving Appliances are serviced.
b) Servicing of all Life Saving Appliances needs to be recorded from its commencements till the completion of servicing of the LSA. Even the membrane of Co2 cylinder (i.e. bursting disc) handed over to refilling station is to be recorded before it is handed over for refilling.
c) A copy of the recording of the servicing of the LSA is to be provided to the master of the ship.
d) The recording of servicing of LSA is to be retained by the service station for a minimum period of two years.
e) The recordings should be made available for scrutiny whenever required by the Directorate, Mercantile Marine Department and Recognized Origination as well as during inspections of the approved service station.
2. Further, the Administration has informed that DGS approved service stations servicing lifesaving appliances not found in possession of recording identifiable of the lifesaving appliances with their respective items and serial numbers will be suspended without notice.
3. DGS approved service stations undertaking servicing of Life Saving Appliances and masters of Indian flagged vessels are advised to be guided by above and ensure compliance.
