Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), the leading international classification society recently conducted an Interactive Session on “Fuel 2020 & GHG Emission” at IRClass Head Office, Mumbai.

The session drew participation from ship owners, ship operators, consultants, marine engine suppliers and bunker suppliers. The Guest-of-Honour for the session was Capt. Ashok Mahapatra, former Director of IMO’s Maritime Safety Division.

The seminar featured presentations by subject matter experts from Indian Register of Shipping, Reliance Industries Limited, The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd, Cummins India Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

The seminar concluded with a lively panel discussion on the disposal of non-compliant fuel, the availability of compliant fuel and the issuance of joint industrial guidelines for shipowners. The panel agreed on the need for ongoing multi-stakeholder dialogue to pre-empt and address industry challenges of an increasingly multi-faceted nature.
