This manual is specific to the ship and contains information to enable client to quickly avail the Emergency Response Service from IRClass in case of any emergency situation such as collision, grounding, flooding of compartments etc. Two copies of this manual will be provided and one copy each is to be kept onboard the ship and in the client’s office. The client may make further copies of the same and keep with suitable shore based representatives who may be called upon to coordinate emergency response on behalf of the client.
The ERS manual may be incorporated into the ship’s safety documentation. It is recommended that the communication procedure is followed in an ERS event and the specified format for reporting (Casualty Report Form) be highlighted in the safety documentation. This manual should be read by ship’s officers and all shore based persons who are likely to be involved in reporting an incident or in coordinating the emergency response. Any explanation or clarification, which may be required, should be sought at the earliest.
Types of Emergencies
Information to be kept ready
On receipt of the first call, client shall be informed of the telephone and fax numbers on which further communication is to be conducted for the emergency event. The completed Causality report should be sent to the fax number provided. (Causality report form is given along with the ERS manual as Annexure-I)
Requirement of Drill for Emergencies
On completion of the data entry for the ship in the ERS project database, the client is advised to examine demonstration of the ERS through a mock trial. The trial would examine the readiness of the ERS scheme for the ship against a specified damage situation as per the operation phase. On successful completion of the mock trial, the ERS scheme is considered to be established for the ship.
The purpose of this ERS manual
