Type Approval Procedure

In general, Type Approval Certification procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Application from the manufacturer
  • Review of manufacturers documentation
  • Approval of design drawings
  • Review of type test program
  • Witness of type tests
  • Review of the type test reports
  • Issuance of Type Approval Certificate

IRS Head Office coordinates the process of review of product documentation, type test report, and issuance of Type Approval Certificate.

The activities of production quality assurance and witness of type testing is witnessed by attending Surveyor from Local IRS Office unless agreed otherwise in writing.

After the successful completion of the required testing, and after all necessary drawings, specifications, and test reports have been received, reviewed and approved by the IRS, a Certificate of Approval will be issued to the applicant manufacturer.  The certificate is valid for five years, and the approval will be listed on the internet at https://www.irclass.org
