IRS Bulgaria EOOD, is designated as a notified body to carry out marine equipment conformity assessment activities in accordance with Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU. As a notified body, we can undertake approval under the MED and issue EC Type-Examination (Module B) and Quality Assurance/Product Verification (Modules D or E/F) or Unit Verification (Module G) certificates for the following life saving appliances used onboard ships:

• Lifebuoys
• Position-indicating lights for life-saving appliances (for survival craft and rescue boats, lifebuoys and lifejackets)
• Lifejackets
• Inflatable liferafts
• Rescue Boats
• Launching appliances using falls (davits)

On completion of approval process the manufacturer is given authorization to affix the MED mark of conformity (the “Wheel Mark”) in accordance with Annex I of the Directive 2014/90/EU.
