Course Objective
  • Acquire a clear understanding of various aspects of ship operations that contribute to effective management of energy efficiency on board
  • Gain knowledge about the regulatory requirements on use of low sulphur fuel onboard and operation of exhaust gas cleaning systems 
  • Be able to plan, implement and monitor appropriate measures on board, which will aim at compliance with the various IMO regulations on air pollution.

About the course

1. IMO Data Collection System adopted vide regulation 22A of MARPOL Annex VI. The course aims to provide knowledge regarding SEEMP implementation onboard, the procedures for data collection and reporting to the Administration/RO. An insight into the IMO’s initial strategy on reduction of GHG emissions

2. Upcoming sulphur cap of 0.5% in Fuel oil from 2020, covering various compliance options and major challenges associated. Touch upon guidance on development of a ship implementation plan, best practices for fuel purchasers and actions, in case of non- availability of compliant fuel. This section also provides awareness about various types of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (Scrubbers) and the regulations associated with the EGCS.
